Develop Smarter.

Regal.ia

Regal.ia is a data-powered platform that helps developers and architects assess feasibility, unlock funding, and align with community and climate goals—before breaking ground.

What is Regal.ia?

Regal.ia helps developers visualize what to build, where to build it, and how to align impact with return—starting from the ground up.

“It’s the integration of community values with technical data that sets this apart.”

– Demo Participant

Regal.ia is a data-powered platform for developers, architects, and community stakeholders that provides strategic insights across the full development lifecycle. Created as a subsidiary of Mecca LLC, the platform balances financial feasibility with social responsibility by merging zoning, policy, climate, demographic, and funding data into intuitive development scenarios.
Initially developed out of a Columbia University capstone project and enriched through years of research and real-world experience, Regal.ia translates complex planning data into visual tools and fosters meaningful stakeholder collaboration throughout the process.

What We’ve Learned So Far

We’ve conducted two successful demo sessions with stakeholders across real estate and architecture. We’re actively building our MVP and invite partners, testers, and collaborators to join the process.

From Developers

  • “It shortens the due diligence process and surfaces projects that meet both ROI and social impact goals.”

  • “The idea of visualizing the value chain is a game-changer.”

FAQS

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

Developers

  • What regions will Regal.ia focus on first?

Regal.ia will launch with a focus on New York and Milwaukee, two markets with rich data availability and unique adaptive reuse challenges. New York provides data infrastructure and a diverse ecosystem of stakeholders, while Milwaukee offers high potential due to vacancy rates and policy shifts.

  • Will Regal.ia integrate qualitative data and community needs?

Yes. The platform will pull from advocacy reports, demographic data, and community development corp insights to ensure development aligns with local priorities and health equity goals. The vision is to blend technical data with community values to shift development power dynamics.

  • Is the platform built on GIS?

The project started with GIS, but has since evolved to include AI, funding analysis, climate data, and stakeholder logic layers. GIS remains a foundation, but Regal.ia aims to become a multi-layered platform that empowers users to analyze feasibility from a human and environmental lens.

  • What's the technical roadmap?

Currently, Regal.ia is in soft-launch and stakeholder validation. The next step is securing a technical co-founder or build partner to lead interface development. The founder is prototyping workflows and methodology now, while focusing on team-building and fundraising for MVP development.

  • What are the next steps for traction and proof of concept?

Start with a land acquisition-focused use case, based on identified pain points from interviews.

Build out phased MVP features aligned with development milestones.

Use stakeholder demos, surveys, and event participation to document early traction and insights for investors and accelerators.

  • How will Regal.ia support financial feasibility and adaptive reuse planning?

The platform will combine zoning and climate data with funding eligibility databases and case study benchmarks. It will help developers visualize development mixes, align with grant or investment programs, and unlock financial pathways early in the process.

Architects

  • Will Regal.ia include product recommendations for sustainable design?

Yes. Regal.ia is building a vendor and materials database that prioritizes clean, climate-friendly materials and methods. The goal is to connect users with sustainable vendors and highlight those using underutilized but impactful solutions.

  • Can this help me identify BIPOC or local vendors?

Absolutely. A major goal is to highlight and support BIPOC-owned businesses across the development value chain—including contractors, brokers, designers, and consultants. This feature supports community wealth-building and inclusive development.

  • How does Regal.ia integrate policy and supply chain insights?

The platform tracks funding-linked policies, green infrastructure initiatives, and material supply chain dynamics. While early-stage, the goal is to enable users to understand how global manufacturing trends and policy incentives impact sustainable design.

  • How does Regal.ia compare to other tools like TestFit or Forma?

Regal.ia is distinguished by its focus on equity, visualization, and education. Unlike traditional tools, it offers simplified, data-rich insights that combine zoning, climate, and community priorities—and makes these insights digestible and actionable for all stakeholders.

  • What are current development priorities?

    • Hosting targeted demos to gather feedback and validate features
    • Applying to accelerators and funding opportunities
    • Building an MVP and preparing for a pilot testing phase in Q3
    • Recruiting team members, especially on the tech and business ops side
  • How does Regal.ia support Community Land Trusts?

Regal.ia’s stakeholder mapping tools allow users to identify potential CLT partners and funding opportunities. The platform enables better coordination between community orgs, funders, and policymakers to support CLT formation and sustainability.
